The whole idea of the song is very playful and fun. There is no reason anyone would bring a lemon to a knife fight. The whole song seems to be this exchange between two people where there is this constant give and take an no one is winning. I want to portray a very cynical but humorous side to the song. I illustrated the chorus three times to show how dynamic these words really are. Like the pair of people in the song there is a relationship between knives and lemons because knives are needed to cut lemons but a knife doesn’t necessarily need a lemon. The illustrations in the video will portray how lemons and knives can work together. For example to season a fish or a margarita or to get a lemon peel. The Wombats are such a fun, nonsensical band that I don’t want their lyrical video to have a narrative or a flow, but rather this miss-mash of visuals that are just interesting to look at.
